Manipur has taken a significant step in modernizing its urban governance by launching a comprehensive online property tax platform, making it easier for residents to manage and pay their property taxes from the comfort of their homes.

 

📅Launch Date & Significance

On April 24, 2025, the Manipur Municipality Property Tax Board (MMPTB) officially launched the Online Property Tax Platform, covering 26 Municipal Councils across the state.

 

🏙️ Key Features of the Platform

The platform is designed to simplify and digitize the property tax process through:

  • 🏠 Property Registration: Online property registration for owners.

  • 🧮 Self-Assessment: Easily calculate tax liabilities.

  • 💳 Online Tax Payment: Convenient digital tax payment options.

  • 📑 Ownership Services: Apply for amalgamation, separation, and mutation of property ownership.

The user-friendly interface ensures transparency, efficiency, and accessibility for all users.

 

🏙️ Coverage and Implementation

  • The platform currently covers 26 Municipal Councils in Manipur.

  • Notably, the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) is not yet included in this rollout.

  • The initiative is implemented under the Manipur Municipalities Act, 1994, with the goal of improving transparency, compliance, and urban service delivery.
